Meet the Team
I co-founded Synetec with Gregory Snell in 2008 with the mission to help create tech that matters. A customer-service orientated entrepreneur from a software development background. Straight-talking, no-nonsense, sugar-free, get it done attitude on a mission to be part of the solution. Enjoying the journey of building an inspiring team that is passionate about delivering excellence to our customers.
I co-founded Synetec with George Toursoulopoulos in 2008 after many years as a developer myself. We set out to improve the customer experience of software development and it is still central to all that we do. I am a firm believer that software is primarily about people – from the end users all the way through to the people that produce it – which is why the team at Synetec is so important to me. We aim to foster an environment where people can learn, grow and contribute; to both our work, and the growth of the company itself. It is also why I believe that Agile and DevOps principles are so important – we must continuously strive to improve!
An IT industry veteran having worked as an IT Director for Logicalis, Fulham FC and MotorSportVision Ltd before moving to assist Managed Services businesses with their Go To Market Strategies. Recently I managed and helped sell Cloud Service Provider Carrenza to Six Degrees Group and am actively involved with startups and established businesses helping them grow.
I`m a keen sports fan of any shaped ball and still play Rugby Union and most recently joined a local orchestra where I play piano and percussion.
Internationally experienced, entrepreneurial and have always been drawn to small companies where individuals matter. I began a part time admin role with Synetec in 2009 and it’s developed into a full time mission to support the growth of this dynamic organisation. I champion responsible business practices that respect people and the environment. I believe that positive change comes from hard work as well as open and honest communications.
For over 7 years I have dedicated my career to keeping executives organised and less stressed. Habitually going “above and beyond” and suggesting ways to deliver more value. Passionate about helping Synetec achieve its strategic goals. I appreciate honesty, inclusion and opportunity to work for a company where you feel valued. Every growth is a journey and it starts from believing in yourself and in what you do.
As Synetec’s Development Manager, and most relentlessly optimistic employee, I help our engineering team work to the best of their abilities! Whether it is over a coffee or hashing it out as a group in a retrospective, I’m focused on making sure we’re growing and changing. I came to Synetec in February 2019 and have had so many fantastic opportunities since I started. Synetec is a company that really rewards hard work and initiative, I’m lucky to work somewhere that embraces the “can do” attitude! In my spare time I love trail running and buying up all the contents of second hand bookstores.
I have been in Product Management for over 10 years and worked across multiple industries such as Cellular, Telematics, Banking & Renewable Energy. My Product journey began with hardware and has organically phased across to software. My passion for both Product and People, coupled with my experience in both Hardware and Software is key to delivering quality and business value.
As a kiwi working in London, the Synetec team have made me feel super welcome over the past 18 months I’ve been working here, although I still get teased when I ask for a pen! Growing my career was the driver for moving over and I’ve had multiple opportunities to grow alongside Synetec, successfully making the transition to a Product Owner role with their support at the start of the year. As a Product Owner, I work closely with our clients to define their goals and prioritising, maximising the value they receive from our delivery team by aligning their business needs with new products and features. When I’m not working, I’m running around London or Europe, exploring all the places that are much easier to see now that I’m not in New Zealand!
Inspired by the idea to work in a successful software development company I found that Synetec is a perfect match. Work is much easier when you love what you do. That is why I enjoy so much being part of the Synetec team. My constant hunger for knowledge and optimism help me solve all kinds of problems. Working at Synetec developed my skills in some of the latest software development technologies such as .Net Core and Angular 7. As part of the Synetec team I know that I will be able to expand my experience and learn new things every day.
As an open source software architect, I tend to enjoy a good coffee, a good single malt, and generally breathe code. With a professional software development career rooted in the early nineties, I will be celebrating a 30 year journey soon. I am still just as excited to get involved in building a custom solution solving a particular problem, than I was printing “Hello World” on my TV set using BASIC on a Sinclair Spectrum in 1982. I have provided custom solutions to very specific challenges in the Telecommunications, Logistics, Banking, Mining, Financial, Defense and e-Commerce industries, and continue to enjoy solving puzzles.
Team player, solution-oriented and positive thinker, I strive to put all my skills into play in order to help Synetec thrive. For the past four years I’ve found in Synetec a great place to continue my software development career, with a team from which I can learn every day. I love spending my free time with my family, traveling, and capturing those moments through video and photography.
My desire to learn and explore new technologies and knowledge brought me to Synetec. I like being part of this team as I am allowed to express myself and get the right direction when I need it. My motivation to keep pushing and diving further as well as being eager to explore really helps me improve my skills on a daily basis. While working at Synetec I have learned a whole lot about C#, Web APIs & Angular as well as AWS. As part of the team I really like that the door to new knowledge is open as well as being able to share it with my colleagues.
I recently graduated from the University of Bath with a first class BSc in Physics. During my degree, I completed a year-long internship at Uniper Technologies, maintaining and developing bespoke data transfer and visualisation software. In addition to this, during my final year, I completed an industry project for CheckRisk LLP, a financial risk consultancy – I worked as a part of a research group to develop an innovative model to forecast financial market crashes.
I love to write and play music in my spare time – I play lead guitar for the Nottingham-based hard rock band: ‘Good Hustles’. In addition to this, I enjoy running, working out at the gym, and cooking.
I have been working at Synetec for over 3 years as a senior software engineer and as on site consultant for our clients. With 10+ years work experience in multicultural environments working across different countries, I provide ‘outside the box thinking’ approaches, to offer great solutions to clients’ needs. I like contributing in all phases of software development, from analysis and design to solution implementation and deployment. As a tech savvy person, I am always keen to research, customise and integrate new technologies into the bespoke software offered to the clients. I am a strong believer in the power of knowledge sharing, I also mentor junior members of the team. I like spending my spare time traveling, watching films and learning foreign languages. Beside my native language and English I also speak Spanish and French, with German and Portuguese next on my list.
As any aspiring graduate seeking to branch into the world of programming, I wanted the opportunity to prove my knowledge and enthusiasm in order to secure a starting role as a developer. Synetec was able to provide that opportunity on top of additional training and chances to show off my skills. Within a span of six months, I went from taking telephone calls and debugging client issues, to being placed in development team for one of their major clients as a junior dev. We’ve recently released functionality to our client where I was the main contributor in its final stages which was very well received by not only the client but the team as well. Working with Synetec has been an absolute joy to work with and I have learnt a lot within the short span of time I’ve been here. They do come with a small caveat however as with working with any other small company. Challenges are diverse and plentiful, so in turn I needed to learn just as quickly as they pop up. However whenever I did struggle, the team here at Synetec are always keen to lend a helping hand.
