As a Solutions Architect you will act as the design authority for a clients’ software system/s. You will lead and drive the software design process. This includes Scope of customer solutions, supporting Sales and Product Owners on technical requirements during the pre-sales lifecycle, Technical Authority on complex technical project delivery for customers, Lead design / architecture workshops, working with wider project teams to implement solutions. This is a HANDS-ON role, so you must be able to design & build solutions.
Overall responsibility for the high-level architecture of Software systems
Create roadmap plans for step by step transition from legacy to modern architecture, breaking it down into smaller pieces of work/ phases.
Fully understand system requirements – Working with stakeholders, Product Owners and Business Analysts
Documenting your designs for communication to other team members
Ability to speak to clients on business requirements and translate to technical tasks for implementation by the engineering team.
Manage stakeholder understanding and expectation regarding system design; confirming functionality meets requirements
Ensuring non-functional requirements are met
Liaising with the development team(s) to ensure the correct implementation
Assisting with Pre-Sales including engaging with customers and crafting solutions to win customer business and taking responsibility for estimations that balance commercial aspect with value to the customer. You may also have to provide a technical review of current environment – Gap analysis
Influential in Product Development
Commercial experience of architecting and documenting medium to complex solutions through to delivery
Technical leadership that includes Mentoring Senior Developers to create more solution architects and to help manage and guide the architecture choices.
3+ Years previous professional experience designing systems, either as a Tech Lead or Solutions Architect
Working knowledge of IaaS/PaaS Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) Building and deploying into Azure Landing Zones
Experience of Web Application, infrastructure design and implementation.
Experience of transformation of legacy systems to cloud-native architecture
The ability to estimate on the build/re-architecting of an existing system
Experience of Containerisation and Micro-services
Able to design and build core Azure Services (Compute, Storage, Network, Application Migrations)
Azure IaaS/PaaS Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) Building and deploying into Azure Landing Zones
Past experience setting up build pipelines, automated deployments, etc. with Gitlab CI or Azure CI/CD tools
An Azure certification – Solution Architecture certification or the Azure developer certification would be beneficial
Confident in your ability to deliver
Experience in describing architectures diagrammatically, either formally or informally
Proven ability to define, improve and promote technical best practices across the business
Understanding of best practices for software architecture
Experience working in an agile development environment
Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts and decisions to non-technical stakeholders and a positive and approachable manner with your team so that you can communicate your ideas soundly and collaboratively.
Salary: £75,000 to £85,000, depending on experience.
Flexible working hours and a combination of fully remote or a hybrid of remote/onsite.
