Quality Assurance Engineer

Overview

We are looking for someone that is passionate and a creative problem-solver, with an exceptionally high attention to detail. The right individual not only finds bugs, but plays a leading role in understanding the requirements, relating to the end-users and working closely with the development team and business analysts to identify acceptance criteria. You will provide input into our development cycle to find long-term optimum solutions. Your involvement will range from design to deployment to ensure we ship the highest quality systems and features.

Responsibilities

  • Take direct responsibility for the quality of our output.
  • Understanding business, system and feature requirements.
  • Validating requirements with the solution consultants and development team
  • Identifying, agreeing and documenting appropriate acceptance criteria
  • Creating and maintaining appropriate regression tests
  • Professionally and thoroughly executing regression tests and reporting results internally and externally
  • Identifying and recommending improvements to our processes in order to improve quality
  • Increase the adoption of automated testing

 

Essential Skills:

  • Happy to move quickly and independently. We are all nice and very willing to share knowledge and a helping hand, but you have to be willing to take ownership of the outlined goals and make things happen.
  • Commercial experience working on collaborative engineering teams
  • Experience with test driven development. You also love to work with an engineering team to automate testing and then create tools so the team can test their own code
  • Experience with testing RESTful Web Services
  • Commercial experience with any unit testing frameworks (NUnit, JUnit, xUnit, or similar)
  • Commercial experience with any test automation tools (Selenium Webdriver, Appium, Espresso, MSTest, Coded UI, Cucumber, FitNesse, Testium)
  • Hands on experience with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, jQuery)
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, Web Service testing, Front-End UI automation and have built a Test Automation framework yourself. Implemented testing Builds for Continuous Integration
  • Ability to write SQL queries as well as stored procedures and perform back-end testing
  • Very organized, able to meet and keep track of tight deadlines with lots of moving parts
  • Know how to get things done, possessing a keen sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize problems, and analyse and resolve issues
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Sense of curiosity and desire to always be learning
  • Positive Mindset

 

Beneficial Skills:

  • 2- 3 years commercial testing experience
  • Computer Science Degree or equivalent software engineering qualification

Support Desk Engineer

Overview

Synetec are searching for an enthusiastic and self-motivated software developer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excited to learn new skills and also deliver great work.  The company is expanding and we want someone that can grow with us and play a key role in keeping our increasing list of clients happy in a positive and motivated work environment. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role for a motivated diligent individual. The role will involve working within a small team of developers, to support, develop and test software systems.

Solutions Consultant

Overview

Synetec are looking for an organised and self-motivated individual to join the team as a Solutions Consultant. You will work primarily at Synetec’s offices in Southwark, London; with regular client meetings throughout the London area. You will bring your can-do attitude, together with the benefit of your existing experience, to help design and deliver world-class software systems; primarily across the financial sector.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering and documenting requirements from both existing and potential clients
  • Designing business-level solutions to meet said requirements
  • Liaising with clients to refine and clarify requirements
  • Translating the agreed solutions into Epics and User-stories for consumption by the development team
  • Working with the QA team to define acceptance criteria and appropriate test scenarios
  • Working directly with the development team to ensure correct delivery and quality of your solutions
  • Managing your own workload, across multiple projects, to ensure timely completion of your responsibilities

 

Essential Skills:

  • Analytical nature with the ability to solve complex business issues
  • Technical aptitude and a high degree of self-motivation
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, with the ability to build effective customer relationships
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English

 

Beneficial Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant commercial experience in the software industry (finance sector not essential)
